It is very important to have daily practice so that the techniques learned in lessons are retained. Regularity is more valuable than duration, especially at the beginning of taking lessons. Practice time can range based on the level of the student from 15 minutes to 3 hours a day. Our teachers will work with students to come up and recommend a practice schedule for students.
Being able to perform is a big part of sharing a special skill that students have developed. It takes practice and we want to reward and recognize our students. We have free twice a year recitals for all our students at such acclaimed venues like the McDavid Studio at Bass Hall and various other performance opportunities for our group class students at venues such as the Wood Shed Smoke House on the river, Central Market, & TV famous Chef Pointe for the students to jump into.

Tyler Demaree is currently a senior Choral Music Education Major at Western Illinois University. Before transferring to Western Illinois University, Tyler was a Music Education major at Southwestern College and is now finishing his Music Education degree at Western. Tyler was born and raised in Winfield, Kansas and moved to Macomb this year to attend Western Illinois Univeristy. He has participated in various top ensembles at Emporia State University, Southwestern College and now at Western Illinois University in University Singers and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Tyler has a passion for teaching singers with the ideals and terminology of Estill Voice Training while working towards certification in EVT. Mr. Demaree is also a member of the National Association for Music Education and the American Choral Directors Association.   
If your child loves to sing, you probably knew it before they could talk. While you should always encourage singing, most children under the age of 7 generally don't have the focus or patience needed for formal singing lessons. With persistence and motivation some kids have learned to play sing at some impressively young ages, but it really comes down to is the individual attitude and maturity level of the student. 

I bought this book as a last ditch effort to have a minimal competence in singing. My voice is in the bass range, which is fine for a chorus, but not much use for pop music today. I also, sang flat in my range (chest voice). My range was limited. I read the book up to about chapter 11. The business about the vowels and consonants; I did not think was useful. I put the book away for a week or so. One day I decided to try doing the boring exercises on the CD. I did it every day for 1 week. I did not notice a difference, until I tried a song that I play regularly and I was able to hit a note that I could never hit before. Artist works provides an amazing format. A student can spend hours going through the curriculum and practising in a systematic way. The curriculum makes sense; it builds progressively from foundational lessons to lessons that are more elaborate. There are guests and additional material from festivals added regularly. The opportunity to converse and demonstrate one's skill level with the Musicians / teachers is invaluable. In my experience both Michael Dave's and Bryan Sutton are incredibly engaging, attentive to detail, supportive, and just generally awesome people to exchange videos with and to learn from.

There exists a science that dictates how a beautiful tone is produced.  One of the things that can give a singer a gorgeous tone is the use of vocal resonances.  These resonances (Frontal sinus, Sphenoid sinus, Maxillary sinus and Ethmoid air cells) enhance phonation in quality of tone, intensity and color.  This results in a beautiful, rich and unique sound.   In contrast, resonating poorly will make one's voice sound thin and ordinary.  At "Beautiful Voice NJ" students spend of part of their private singing lesson learning how to resonate.

In 2011, Ms. McMurtery performed the role of Papagena in a concert version of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with New York Lyric Opera. In 2010, she performed in St. John's, Newfoundland as a participant in the Opera on the Avalon summer training program. Other operatic roles performed include Susanna (Le nozze di Fiagro, Mozart), Sister Dolcina (Suor Angelica, Puccini), Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict, Berlioz), Mercedes (Carmen, Bizet), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz, C.M. von Weber). Also a frequent recitalist, she performed as the soprano soloist for the Hugo Wolf/Goethe Project in New York, NY for the (re:) Directions Theater Company in 2010. Other studies abroad include the Florence Voice Seminar, in Florence, Italy (2007 and 2005), and at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany (2002). Ms. McMurtery holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University (2006) and a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and German from DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana (2004).

Singing is a much more complex art than it first appears. It is near impossible to learn proficiently when just singing along to songs or looking at online resources. Private singing lessons will give you total attention from your vocal coach, in order for you to improve your voice quickly and effectively. Your voice teacher will also be able to see any weak points that a trainer of a choir or group class may not notice. This way, you will avoid developing bad habits that might impede your progress.

My experience in singing begins in 2005 in a youth chorus of my city in Mérida Venezuela. I started singing and vocal technique studies in that group, I sang some choral symphonies and I won prizes in my country of origin. Then in 2008 it became part of the Cantoria de Mérida group that allows me to deepen my knowledge in the area of ​​academic singing. Riley could not even look adults in the eye when speaking to them when Steve began teaching her at age 10. But by the time she graduated high school at 18, she had blossomed into a very powerful, skilled, and controlled singer who had starred in several school productions and won several awards and accolades such as the NJ NATS award and the NJ All-State Honors Choir.
