The instruction in the Michael Daves vocal school is well thought out with each lesson building on the previous one. Not only is it a vocal school but you get to brush up on guitar skills as well. His lessons, without wasted talk, put the student right to work. The extra videos and interviews with musicians are an appreciated added bonus. Michael clearly has a grasp of what is needed to be an educator.

There exists a science that dictates how a beautiful tone is produced.  One of the things that can give a singer a gorgeous tone is the use of vocal resonances.  These resonances (Frontal sinus, Sphenoid sinus, Maxillary sinus and Ethmoid air cells) enhance phonation in quality of tone, intensity and color.  This results in a beautiful, rich and unique sound.   In contrast, resonating poorly will make one's voice sound thin and ordinary.  At "Beautiful Voice NJ" students spend of part of their private singing lesson learning how to resonate.
I truly enjoyed my first lesson with Indigo. She's a wonderful instructor. She explains very clearly with a calm and precise approach. I truly feel she can teach me how to be a better guitarist in a structured, positive and comfortable way. She immediately put me at ease without judgement and without the dreaded "mansplaining" that I often got from male instructors in the past. I'm definitely coming back for more lessons.

I take a physiological approach to singing... after all it is a physical endeavor.  The voice or larynx, despite all its complexities, is just another set of muscles that can be trained to reach its fullest potential.  The method that I teach, “The Franco/Italian Bel Canto Method” has been taught in Europe for more than 200 years and has produced the world’s greatest classical singers.  Now having said that let me assure you studying this method doesn’t mean that you have to become a classical singer.  The techniques used are designed to strengthen and improve the quality of the human voice and can be applied to any genre ... School of Rock is where young singers and aspiring vocalists go to learn the fundamentals of singing like breathing, posture and diction. These basic principles are key to strong vocal performances. Our expert voice teachers help guide beginner singers through the early stages of vocal progression, assisting with pitch training, developing timbre and keeping steady tempo. Unlike most singing lessons, when students enroll in our programs, they can expect both weekly private singing lessons and group rehearsals. At School of Rock, our core philosophy is that the best way for students to gain musical proficiency is through performance-based music education. All of our lessons programs include a performance aspect.

I had struggled with my singing for a while, and thought i was losing what talent i had. I bought this book to see if it would help me a little. It is maybe the second or the third of its kind i have bought over the years, so i didn't have my hopes too high. Well, it helped me SO MUCH. My voice has improved so much in a short time. I have really stretched my vocal cords using her techniques. I actually really enjoyed the whole process, and no longer feel like my singing talent is dwindling. My voice is getting stronger. I love the exercises and particularly the breathing techniques.
What ultimately sets these vocal training lessons apart from other offerings is the library of videos submitted by students using the ArtistWorks Video Exchange Learning® platform. Jeannie reviewed each submission and recorded a video response, offering specific guidance to the student to take their singing to the next level. All students can access the Video Exchange library and watch these interactions with the instructor. This comprehensive archive, combined with a library of guided, high quality video lessons, may contain the key to unlock your potential.

Do both boys and girls experience voice breaks and cracks as they learn to sing? Find out in this guest post by Ocala, CA teacher Angie Q....   One common question I get asked by my students is: Do both girls and boy students go through a vocal change? The answer is yes. I have been teaching voice lessons to both boys and girls (of all ages) for more than 15 years. It is very important to have daily practice so that the techniques learned in lessons are retained. Regularity is more valuable than duration, especially at the beginning of taking lessons. Practice time can range based on the level of the student from 15 minutes to 3 hours a day. Our teachers will work with students to come up and recommend a practice schedule for students.
We don't want you to just sing in the shower with your newly-trained voice.  All of our voice students have many options to perform in recitals and performances that we have at the school throughout the year.  Some of these performances happen right in the atrium in our own building. Students will get to perform with other students in their age group and skill level. Performances give students the opportunity to practice that final step of the music-learning curriculum by exercising the presentation of their skills in a public forum. The excitement and nerves of public performance can often derail good technique if it hasn't been properly learned and reinforced in the first place.
