A description of how the vocal folds produce sound, including photos of real live vocal folds! You will learn how they come together for phonation (singing/speaking etc), and what they are doing at rest. You will also learn where they are placed in the throat. This lecture will help you understand why good vocal technique is important, and behind a sore or inflamed throat (and how to avoid it if you can!)

If your child loves to sing, you probably knew it before they could talk. While you should always encourage singing, most children under the age of 7 generally don't have the focus or patience needed for formal singing lessons. With persistence and motivation some kids have learned to play sing at some impressively young ages, but it really comes down to is the individual attitude and maturity level of the student. 
Many 4-year-olds love to sing, but they likely lack the focus for formal voice lessons. However, it's not too early to begin teaching your child musical concepts that will be important once they are old enough for singing instruction at School of Rock. Your 4-year-old can participate in the Little Wing music program to learn fundamental concepts through fun, dynamic musical activities.
The instruction in the Michael Daves vocal school is well thought out with each lesson building on the previous one. Not only is it a vocal school but you get to brush up on guitar skills as well. His lessons, without wasted talk, put the student right to work. The extra videos and interviews with musicians are an appreciated added bonus. Michael clearly has a grasp of what is needed to be an educator.

In 2010, she performed in St. John's, Newfoundland as a participant in the Opera on the Avalon summer training program. Other operatic roles performed include Susanna (Le nozze di Fiagro, Mozart), Sister Dolcina (Suor Angelica, Puccini), Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict, Berlioz), Mercedes (Carmen, Bizet), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz, C.M. von Weber). Also a frequent recitalist, she performed as the soprano soloist for the Hugo Wolf/Goethe Project in New York, NY for the (re:) Directions Theater Company in 2010. Other studies abroad include the Florence Voice Seminar, in Florence, Italy (2007 and 2005), and at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany (2002). Now that you have warmed up your resonating chambers, you can try singing on other vowels to continue warming up the voice. The "Aah" sound is one of the hardest to produce - but you should be able to perform this without pressure or force if you are doing all these exercises in succession. This is because we have placed major focus on exercises that keep the feeling of the voice in the face, nose and mouth.
Lots of singers, even professionals, take singing lessons because they experience pitch problems.  They are easy fixed with this vocal approach.   If your musical ear is fine, the issue is with one or more of the following:  1.  Lack of correct breath support.  2. Presence of moving vowels or lack of gradations.  3. Singing of improper or heavy consonants.

I love teaching Salsa because I certainly know it would bring happiness to my students. I had struggled with my singing for a while, and thought i was losing what talent i had. I bought this book to see if it would help me a little. It is maybe the second or the third of its kind i have bought over the years, so i didn't have my hopes too high. Well, it helped me SO MUCH. My voice has improved so much in a short time. I have really stretched my vocal cords using her techniques. I actually really enjoyed the whole process, and no longer feel like my singing talent is dwindling. My voice is getting stronger. I love the exercises and particularly the breathing techniques.
We also offer the option for students to take piano lessons in addition to their voice lessons. Adults will find this useful because basic piano skills will enable them to accompany themselves while playing as well as with music theory and songwriting. Younger students will also find the piano lesson addition to be very valuable.  Advanced vocal technique can't fully be addressed and taught unless the voice has matured so the technical portion of the lesson in younger children is limited. By learning to play an instrument simultaneously students get the opportunity to development musicianship and musical understanding in tandem with their vocal training.  Besides, all of the modern observations about the benefits of learning music have been observed on those who were playing an instrument and reading notes....and who wouldn't want that for their child?     
We offer professional training in many different genres. We have helped many students prepare for their auditions for performances, bands, and shows. We also have many working professionals who seek out our vocal instruction for help with working on projecting their speaking voice when being used in a public speaking forum. Have you heard about football players taking ballet lessons? It is kind of like that but not as far removed. We also offer professional vocal workshops throughout the year, providing more opportunities to sing and speak in larger groups.

Isabel is very professional and fun to work with. In our first few lessons, we worked on solidifying some basic fundamentals of singing (proper breathing, posture, etc.) and have since moved on to some simple songs/arias. She is a wonderful teacher for beginners like me, but with her skill level, I can see her as being an exceptional teacher for more advanced students as well.
