The greatest thing about this audiobook for me is that I have a tween-aged grandson who is an aspiring singer/vocalist. He's never had a lesson or been in choir yet he has a naturally perfect pitch. Here are a couple of basic things a singer can do to start building a bigger voice: use correct breathing method, engage vocal resonances and master singing on clean stationary vowels.  There is a common misconception about how to breathe.  Some believe that a singer needs to expand their ribcage out horizontally while inhaling.  That is incorrect.  This will result in various issues such as limited vocal range, pitch problems, a wobbly shaky vibrato and more.

I bought this book as a last ditch effort to have a minimal competence in singing. My voice is in the bass range, which is fine for a chorus, but not much use for pop music today. I also, sang flat in my range (chest voice). My range was limited. I read the book up to about chapter 11. The business about the vowels and consonants; I did not think was useful. I put the book away for a week or so. One day I decided to try doing the boring exercises on the CD. I did it every day for 1 week. I did not notice a difference, until I tried a song that I play regularly and I was able to hit a note that I could never hit before. I had struggled with my singing for a while, and thought i was losing what talent i had. I bought this book to see if it would help me a little. It is maybe the second or the third of its kind i have bought over the years, so i didn't have my hopes too high. Well, it helped me SO MUCH. My voice has improved so much in a short time. I have really stretched my vocal cords using her techniques. I actually really enjoyed the whole process, and no longer feel like my singing talent is dwindling. My voice is getting stronger. I love the exercises and particularly the breathing techniques.
In 2011, Ms. McMurtery performed the role of Papagena in a concert version of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with New York Lyric Opera. In 2010, she performed in St. John's, Newfoundland as a participant in the Opera on the Avalon summer training program. Other operatic roles performed include Susanna (Le nozze di Fiagro, Mozart), Sister Dolcina (Suor Angelica, Puccini), Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict, Berlioz), Mercedes (Carmen, Bizet), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz, C.M. von Weber). Also a frequent recitalist, she performed as the soprano soloist for the Hugo Wolf/Goethe Project in New York, NY for the (re:) Directions Theater Company in 2010. Other studies abroad include the Florence Voice Seminar, in Florence, Italy (2007 and 2005), and at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany (2002). Ms. McMurtery holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University (2006) and a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and German from DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana (2004).

A description of how the vocal folds produce sound, including photos of real live vocal folds! You will learn how they come together for phonation (singing/speaking etc), and what they are doing at rest. You will also learn where they are placed in the throat. This lecture will help you understand why good vocal technique is important, and behind a sore or inflamed throat (and how to avoid it if you can!)
We make singing lessons for kids fun and engaging. Private voice lessons, group rehearsals and live performances help children learn how to sing in a comfortable atmosphere, no matter what skill level they're at vocally. Expert voice instructors teach the basics like staying in-key, breathing and diction and advanced techniques like timbre and intonation. Based on age and skill level, kids join at least one of School of Rock's music programs for kids: Rookies, Rock 101, Performance, House Band, and AllStars.
I teach group lessons for newborn to 9 1/2 yrs: newborn - 18 mos, 18 mos - 3 1/2 yrs, 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 yrs, 4 1/2 - 61/2 and group Piano lessons for ages 6 1/2 to 9 1/2. I have taught young children for 25 years at 1st Methodist Church in Grapevine. We sing, dance, and play instruments. We work on duple and triple meter as well as learn solfeggio.  It's fun and educational! 
Tyler Demaree is currently a senior Choral Music Education Major at Western Illinois University. Before transferring to Western Illinois University, Tyler was a Music Education major at Southwestern College and is now finishing his Music Education degree at Western. Tyler was born and raised in Winfield, Kansas and moved to Macomb this year to attend Western Illinois Univeristy. He has participated in various top ensembles at Emporia State University, Southwestern College and now at Western Illinois University in University Singers and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Tyler has a passion for teaching singers with the ideals and terminology of Estill Voice Training while working towards certification in EVT. Mr. Demaree is also a member of the National Association for Music Education and the American Choral Directors Association.
