Before you read any further, there’s one important thing you should know – anyone can sing!  While some people may have more natural musical ability than others, and an even smaller subset of those people have a voice that’s worth training for potential professional use, there isn’t a single person out there who can’t learn how to sing, especially with a good private teacher and a lot of hard work and enthusiasm! Quick Steps - A Basic "Can I Sing?" Test So how can you find out where you fall

Many 4-year-olds love to sing, but they likely lack the focus for formal voice lessons. However, it's not too early to begin teaching your child musical concepts that will be important once they are old enough for singing instruction at School of Rock. Your 4-year-old can participate in the Little Wing music program to learn fundamental concepts through fun, dynamic musical activities.
The Diva Method is excellent- every video contains material gained from years of research, passion, and experience with all genres and voices. Literally after one week my voice sounded better and I braved a big song at a campfire! Then was asked to join my church worship team- maybe a silly dream, but a dream of mine for sure! A year and a half later, I still warm up with these videos and am still growing. The number one joy is that I have so much more freedom in my voice than ever before. Jeannie is (was) such an artist she really has a way of bringing you out from behind all your head trips, building your physiology, and oh my goodness- I can sing in front of people as well as I could by myself. I sing at church three Sundays a month getting great leads and solos and harmonies. Brava Jeannie and thank you!
This is a great book to teach little kids to match pitch and learn to read music. Every lesson is just at their level and fun so they like to learn! I highly suggest this book for those teaching private or group lessons or beginning choirs. This is the Very Young Beginner Series so it's geared toward ages 3-7. This also follows the Kolday method quite a bit, has extra songs in the back, a page for the student to color at home or in the classroom that goes along with the story the teacher or parent can help the student read and of course the song. There are also lessons in the back for the teacher! Oh, and recordings of the main songs (vocal track amd accompaniment) online! So awesome! I'm using this meathod book to teach a 3 1/2 year old who really seems to like it and ... full review

I take a physiological approach to singing... after all it is a physical endeavor.  The voice or larynx, despite all its complexities, is just another set of muscles that can be trained to reach its fullest potential.  The method that I teach, “The Franco/Italian Bel Canto Method” has been taught in Europe for more than 200 years and has produced the world’s greatest classical singers.  Now having said that let me assure you studying this method doesn’t mean that you have to become a classical singer.  The techniques used are designed to strengthen and improve the quality of the human voice and can be applied to any genre ... We don't want you to just sing in the shower with your newly-trained voice.  All of our voice students have many options to perform in recitals and performances that we have at the school throughout the year.  Some of these performances happen right in the atrium in our own building. Students will get to perform with other students in their age group and skill level. Performances give students the opportunity to practice that final step of the music-learning curriculum by exercising the presentation of their skills in a public forum. The excitement and nerves of public performance can often derail good technique if it hasn't been properly learned and reinforced in the first place.

The second half of the learning equation comes down to location. It takes a supportive environment to get great results, which is why we host our lessons in professionally-designed studio spaces. They're climate-controlled to keep you comfortable so you can maintain focus on the lesson, and acoustically-insulated so your voice will ring true and you can easily hear your progress from session to session. Of course, our lessons will provide you with plenty of insight and direction for practicing at home as well!
Voice lessons allow students to choose their own songs and our instructors will guide them based on their unique gifts and talents.  We strongly encourage students to branch out to different styles of music including, rock, pop and classical,  all while learning fundamentals of technique.  We find it important that during voice lessons students should learn to breathe correctly, create a clear tone, project and understand melody and phrasing.
Being able to perform is a big part of sharing a special skill that students have developed. It takes practice and we want to reward and recognize our students. We have free twice a year recitals for all our students at such acclaimed venues like the McDavid Studio at Bass Hall and various other performance opportunities for our group class students at venues such as the Wood Shed Smoke House on the river, Central Market, & TV famous Chef Pointe for the students to jump into.
School of Rock is where young singers and aspiring vocalists go to learn the fundamentals of singing like breathing, posture and diction. These basic principles are key to strong vocal performances. Our expert voice teachers help guide beginner singers through the early stages of vocal progression, assisting with pitch training, developing timbre and keeping steady tempo. Unlike most singing lessons, when students enroll in our programs, they can expect both weekly private singing lessons and group rehearsals. At School of Rock, our core philosophy is that the best way for students to gain musical proficiency is through performance-based music education. All of our lessons programs include a performance aspect.
For devoted musicians, instruments are almost like an extension of the body - but vocalists are the only ones who can truthfully say their body itself is an instrument. And what an instrument it is! There are as many unique voices as there are people in the world, so no two vocalists have exactly the same sound. What that means is simple: if you want an instrument that's like no other, your voice is it. All it takes is to learn how to unlock its potential, and that's where vocal lessons at Guitar Center come into the picture. We'll prepare you with the basic skills and knowledge you need for success, and guide you through the process of developing and fine-tuning your voice to bring out its musical potential.
Now that you have warmed up your resonating chambers, you can try singing on other vowels to continue warming up the voice. The "Aah" sound is one of the hardest to produce - but you should be able to perform this without pressure or force if you are doing all these exercises in succession. This is because we have placed major focus on exercises that keep the feeling of the voice in the face, nose and mouth.
Currently we have five voice teachrs on staff! The gamut of most msucial styles is covered quite well so that we can offer a teacher who is best suited to your msuical style and taste. The basic techniques of proepr singing are universal and all of our teachers are great at teaching beginners. Advanced student who have developed a solid technique may want to work with a teacher on a particular musical style, msuciality, expression, and perforamance presence. It is great to have the option to work with several teachers.
Lots of singers, even professionals, take singing lessons because they experience pitch problems.  They are easy fixed with this vocal approach.   If your musical ear is fine, the issue is with one or more of the following:  1.  Lack of correct breath support.  2. Presence of moving vowels or lack of gradations.  3. Singing of improper or heavy consonants.
Singing with clarity and control is necessary for a good sound. This group singing class will cover vocal exercises for singers such as how to bring your voice forward into the face to improve your overall sound. This will be accomplished by looking at vocal anatomy and learning some voice exercises and warmups that can be practiced daily. These vocal training tips will help you use your voice to its fullest potential!

We offer professional training in many different genres. We have helped many students prepare for their auditions for performances, bands, and shows. We also have many working professionals who seek out our vocal instruction for help with working on projecting their speaking voice when being used in a public speaking forum. Have you heard about football players taking ballet lessons? It is kind of like that but not as far removed. We also offer professional vocal workshops throughout the year, providing more opportunities to sing and speak in larger groups.
