The Diva Method is excellent- every video contains material gained from years of research, passion, and experience with all genres and voices. Literally after one week my voice sounded better and I braved a big song at a campfire! Then was asked to join my church worship team- maybe a silly dream, but a dream of mine for sure! A year and a half later, I still warm up with these videos and am still growing. The number one joy is that I have so much more freedom in my voice than ever before. Jeannie is (was) such an artist she really has a way of bringing you out from behind all your head trips, building your physiology, and oh my goodness- I can sing in front of people as well as I could by myself. I sing at church three Sundays a month getting great leads and solos and harmonies. Brava Jeannie and thank you!
We offer professional training in many different genres. We have helped many students prepare for their auditions for performances, bands, and shows. We also have many working professionals who seek out our vocal instruction for help with working on projecting their speaking voice when being used in a public speaking forum. Have you heard about football players taking ballet lessons? It is kind of like that but not as far removed. We also offer professional vocal workshops throughout the year, providing more opportunities to sing and speak in larger groups.
My experience in dance, Alexander Technique, and acting informs my teaching approach. I include body awareness, character interpretation, and making the music come alive as an integral part of the lessons. Correct breathing for singers begins with a spontaneous open breath. Upon inhalation, if ones hands are placed on the stomach - an inch below belly button, the hands will be pushed out by stomach muscles. The singer's shoulders should be relaxed and not move up. Neck and jaw should be relaxed. Jaw needs to be unhinged. Phonation begins with the movement of the stomach inward, where one is singing while pulling the stomach muscles in. This is called "singing on the breath." The phonation ends with the release of the abdominal muscles. It's important to note that phonation should be ended with the release of the abs and not in one's throat, which is vocally abusive.
We make singing lessons for kids fun and engaging. Private voice lessons, group rehearsals and live performances help children learn how to sing in a comfortable atmosphere, no matter what skill level they're at vocally. Expert voice instructors teach the basics like staying in-key, breathing and diction and advanced techniques like timbre and intonation. Based on age and skill level, kids join at least one of School of Rock's music programs for kids: Rookies, Rock 101, Performance, House Band, and AllStars.
