Dallas is home to a wide variety of music venues, ranging widely in both styles of music (hip-hop and R&B, indie rock, country, electronic, whatever you’re looking for) as well as size, with hole-in-the-wall bars and clubs, intimate converted venues such as the Kessler and Granada Theater, mid-range venues like Trees, the Southside Ballroom, and even gigantic stadium venues such as Nokia theater, the American Airlines Center, and Gexa Energy Pavilion.
Being able to perform is a big part of sharing a special skill that students have developed. It takes practice and we want to reward and recognize our students. We have free twice a year recitals for all our students at such acclaimed venues like the McDavid Studio at Bass Hall and various other performance opportunities for our group class students at venues such as the Wood Shed Smoke House on the river, Central Market, & TV famous Chef Pointe for the students to jump into.
The final piece of the puzzle is flexible scheduling. It's our mission to make Guitar Center vocal lessons accessible to anyone, so even if your timetable is jam-packed, we encourage you to get in touch and find out how we can work around your busy lifestyle to tailor a lesson plan to your personal scheduling needs. It's the least we can do to make sure that music - and a newfound superstar singing voice - are well within the reach of everybody with the passion to realize his or her potential.
We don't want you to just sing in the shower with your newly-trained voice. All of our voice students have many options to perform in recitals and performances that we have at the school throughout the year. Some of these performances happen right in the atrium in our own building. Students will get to perform with other students in their age group and skill level. Performances give students the opportunity to practice that final step of the music-learning curriculum by exercising the presentation of their skills in a public forum. The excitement and nerves of public performance can often derail good technique if it hasn't been properly learned and reinforced in the first place.

I love teaching Salsa because I certainly know it would bring happiness to my students. I always teach to my students to understand the rhythm and the music of what they are dancing, I teach them to listen, so they can afterwards without any doubt fall in to the rhythm without any problem. In 2011, Ms. McMurtery performed the role of Papagena in a concert version of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with New York Lyric Opera. In 2010, she performed in St. John's, Newfoundland as a participant in the Opera on the Avalon summer training program. Other operatic roles performed include Susanna (Le nozze di Fiagro, Mozart), Sister Dolcina (Suor Angelica, Puccini), Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict, Berlioz), Mercedes (Carmen, Bizet), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz, C.M. von Weber). Also a frequent recitalist, she performed as the soprano soloist for the Hugo Wolf/Goethe Project in New York, NY for the (re:) Directions Theater Company in 2010. Other studies abroad include the Florence Voice Seminar, in Florence, Italy (2007 and 2005), and at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany (2002). Depending on the program, School of Rock's singing lessons can cost from around $150 to $350 per month. Exact prices may vary between locations. Unlike most hourly singing lessons, our programs include weekly private singing lessons and group rehearsals that inspire confidence and teamwork. Vocal students are also welcome to use our facilities whenever we're open, even if they just want to hangout and learn from or collaborate with other musicians.
The instruction in the Michael Daves vocal school is well thought out with each lesson building on the previous one. Not only is it a vocal school but you get to brush up on guitar skills as well.
