The greatest thing about this audiobook for me is that I have a tween-aged grandson who is an aspiring singer/vocalist. He's never had a lesson or been in choir yet he has a naturally perfect pitch. My passion is singing and I am pursuing a Master’s degree in classical vocal performance at the Mannes School of Music. My voice teachers have greatly impacted my life and my goal is to inspire my students in a similar way. I have acquired many different tools for teaching through my studies and teaching experience. In addition to nurturing a child's passion for singing, it's important to keep his or her voice healthy as they grow and get stronger vocals. The main purpose of children's singing lessons is to make the learning process fun. As a student begins to enjoy the learning and improvement process, the instructor can work on advancing the fundamentals, techniques, and practice of singing.
With our private one-on-one voice lessons, both beginner and advance singers will excel. Whatever style you are interested in learning, you can count on the experienced vocal instructors at Schmitt Music Omaha. Typically, our private lessons are 30 minutes, but some voice teachers offer other options. Pricing is determined by the teacher, and depends on their education and experience.

There is not a more powerful tool in building confidence than overcoming the fear of public performance and public speaking. Vocal lessons teach students to control and train their body to relax while performing. Anxiety and performance-induced stress often translates into bad vocal performances. Many singers find themselves great singers in smaller, informal settings - in the recording studio or even the shower - and often find it challenging or impossible to reproduce the same quality performance in front of a larger audience.  Our teachers will teach you how to overcome this fear and to release your inner confidence and full musical potential.

Students don’t have to wait until showcases or recitals for playing experience. They can attend one of the many open mics and jams that Freeway Music hosts throughout the city. We host open mics at places like Drip, Beef O’ Brady’s, and Social Grill. Freeway Music even has an open jazz jam every other Tuesday at Delaney’s in Five Points. We keep our events posted on the website to make it easy for students to keep up with what is going on.
In 2011, Ms. McMurtery performed the role of Papagena in a concert version of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with New York Lyric Opera. In 2010, she performed in St. John's, Newfoundland as a participant in the Opera on the Avalon summer training program. Other operatic roles performed include Susanna (Le nozze di Fiagro, Mozart), Sister Dolcina (Suor Angelica, Puccini), Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict, Berlioz), Mercedes (Carmen, Bizet), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz, C.M. von Weber). Also a frequent recitalist, she performed as the soprano soloist for the Hugo Wolf/Goethe Project in New York, NY for the (re:) Directions Theater Company in 2010. Other studies abroad include the Florence Voice Seminar, in Florence, Italy (2007 and 2005), and at the Carl Maria von Weber Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Germany (2002). Ms. McMurtery holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University (2006) and a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and German from DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana (2004).

Lots of singers, even professionals, take singing lessons because they experience pitch problems.  They are easy fixed with this vocal approach.   If your musical ear is fine, the issue is with one or more of the following:  1.  Lack of correct breath support.  2. Presence of moving vowels or lack of gradations.  3. Singing of improper or heavy consonants.
