This is a great book to teach little kids to match pitch and learn to read music. Every lesson is just at their level and fun so they like to learn! I highly suggest this book for those teaching private or group lessons or beginning choirs. This is the Very Young Beginner Series so it's geared toward ages 3-7. This also follows the Kolday method quite a bit, has extra songs in the back, a page for the student to color at home or in the classroom that goes along with the story the teacher or parent can help the student read and of course the song. There are also lessons in the back for the teacher! Oh, and recordings of the main songs (vocal track amd accompaniment) online! So awesome! My teaching approach: I tailor my lessons to fit the students goals. Beginner students want to learn songs, not theory. So I get the student playing /singing before I focus on scales and theory. As a child matures into a teenager, it becomes increasingly more important for them to get private lessons, because this is when they can realize they can pursue a career - full-time or part-time gigs - in singing. Having a well-seasoned instructor coach the teen and give him or her the right guidance and support can help make their hopes of singing for a living more practical and realistic. A good coach can refer the student to the right information and people resources.

I had struggled with my singing for a while, and thought i was losing what talent i had. I bought this book to see if it would help me a little. It is maybe the second or the third of its kind i have bought over the years, so i didn't have my hopes too high. Well, it helped me SO MUCH. My voice has improved so much in a short time. I have really stretched my vocal cords using her techniques. I actually really enjoyed the whole process, and no longer feel like my singing talent is dwindling. My voice is getting stronger. I love the exercises and particularly the breathing techniques.

The instruction in the Michael Daves vocal school is well thought out with each lesson building on the previous one. Not only is it a vocal school but you get to brush up on guitar skills as well. His lessons, without wasted talk, put the student right to work. The extra videos and interviews with musicians are an appreciated added bonus. Michael clearly has a grasp of what is needed to be an educator.
Please do not pass over this course when you see that it covers the ANATOMY of singing. Roma starts at the beginning because that is how we learn, at the beginning. I am not new to singing but was feeling rusty on my skills/knowledge. She includes so much information that you get to print and keep forever, including a vocal warm-up cd that you may download. Sometimes she is on video for warm-ups and talks to you like you are in the room with her. I recommend this course to anyone and everyone.
It is very important to have daily practice so that the techniques learned in lessons are retained. Regularity is more valuable than duration, especially at the beginning of taking lessons. Practice time can range based on the level of the student from 15 minutes to 3 hours a day. Our teachers will work with students to come up and recommend a practice schedule for students.

I teach group lessons for newborn to 9 1/2 yrs: newborn - 18 mos, 18 mos - 3 1/2 yrs, 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 yrs, 4 1/2 - 61/2 and group Piano lessons for ages 6 1/2 to 9 1/2. I have taught young children for 25 years at 1st Methodist Church in Grapevine. We sing, dance, and play instruments. We work on duple and triple meter as well as learn solfeggio.  It's fun and educational! 
The greatest thing about this audiobook for me is that I have a tween-aged grandson who is an aspiring singer/vocalist. He's never had a lesson or been in choir yet he has a naturally perfect pitch. We offer professional training in many different genres. We have helped many students prepare for their auditions for performances, bands, and shows. We also have many working professionals who seek out our vocal instruction for help with working on projecting their speaking voice when being used in a public speaking forum.
