With our private one-on-one voice lessons, both beginner and advance singers will excel. Typically, our private lessons are 30 minutes, but some voice teachers offer other options. Pricing is determined by the teacher, and depends on their education and experience.

School of Rock's intermediate to advanced vocal lessons offer professional voice training and singing lessons that will help practicing students reach their highest potential. Our expert vocal instructors focus on advanced singing techniques to add to a student's existing vocal repertoire. Every program at School of Rock includes private singing lessons paired with full-band group rehearsals and live performances, all designed to lift students to a higher vocal level.
Trained as a classical pianist, I used to moonlight playing popular songs I heard on the radio and would hide it from my teacher. Nowadays, I ask my students what would like they to play and pick one or two songs that they like so they can practice. I don't mind if my student plays a Chopin Nocturne and then a blues/ jazz song. It's to create combination using all sides of the brain and engage students in making music.

School of Rock is where young singers and aspiring vocalists go to learn the fundamentals of singing like breathing, posture and diction. These basic principles are key to strong vocal performances. Our expert voice teachers help guide beginner singers through the early stages of vocal progression, assisting with pitch training, developing timbre and keeping steady tempo. Unlike most singing lessons, when students enroll in our programs, they can expect both weekly private singing lessons and group rehearsals. There exists a science that dictates how a beautiful tone is produced.  One of the things that can give a singer a gorgeous tone is the use of vocal resonances.  These resonances (Frontal sinus, Sphenoid sinus, Maxillary sinus and Ethmoid air cells) enhance phonation in quality of tone, intensity and color.  This results in a beautiful, rich and unique sound.   In contrast, resonating poorly will make one's voice sound thin and ordinary.  At "Beautiful Voice NJ" students spend of part of their private singing lesson learning how to resonate.
At School of Rock, we teach private singing lessons in conjunction with weekly band rehearsals meant to build confidence and teamwork. While we do offer private singing instruction, we strongly encourage students to play in band rehearsals as a way of exploring group dynamics, and get the chance to find out what it's like to sing lead vocals for a rock band.

Here are a couple of basic things a singer can do to start building a bigger voice: use correct breathing method, engage vocal resonances and master singing on clean stationary vowels.  There is a common misconception about how to breathe.  Some believe that a singer needs to expand their ribcage out horizontally while inhaling.  That is incorrect.  This will result in various issues such as limited vocal range, pitch problems, a wobbly shaky vibrato and more.
My teaching approach: I tailor my lessons to fit the students goals. Beginner students want to learn songs, not theory. So I get the student playing /singing before I focus on scales and theory. I want to teach the student what they want to learn as well as giving them the skills to be a good musician/vocalist. Singing isn’t a skill limited by age, but rather by your level of determination and hard work. In 2010, she performed in St. John's, Newfoundland as a participant in the Opera on the Avalon summer training program. Other operatic roles performed include Susanna (Le nozze di Fiagro, Mozart), Sister Dolcina (Suor Angelica, Puccini), Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict, Berlioz), Mercedes (Carmen, Bizet), and Ännchen (Der Freischütz, C.M. von Weber). Also a frequent recitalist, she performed as the soprano soloist for the Hugo Wolf/Goethe Project in New York, NY for the (re:) Directions Theater Company in 2010. There is not a more powerful tool in building confidence than overcoming the fear of public performance and public speaking. Vocal lessons teach students to control and train their body to relax while performing. Anxiety and performance-induced stress often translates into bad vocal performances.
