I truly enjoyed my first lesson with Indigo. She's a wonderful instructor. She explains very clearly with a calm and precise approach. I truly feel she can teach me how to be a better guitarist in a structured, positive and comfortable way. She immediately put me at ease without judgement and without the dreaded "mansplaining" that I often got from male instructors in the past. I'm definitely coming back for more lessons.
My teaching approach: I tailor my lessons to fit the students goals. Beginner students want to learn songs, not theory. So I get the student playing /singing before I focus on scales and theory. I want to teach the student what they want to learn as well as giving them the skills to be a good musician/vocalist. I also determine what your learning style is, so that I can effectively teach you in the way you learn best. I have over 14 years teaching experience in guitar and voice, and I teach songwriting and ukulele as well.  I've been performing locally and internationally for over 7 years. My influences are: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Patty ... View Profile

e singing lessons but Milton came in with a positive attitude. Milton is very friendly, funny, professional and always enthusiastic when asking questions about music. I use to be very shy, "never want to sing in front of people" type of girl, but ever since I started lessons with him, I sing all the time in front of people, starting to perform on stage, built A LOT of confidence, and found what type of musician I am. All the things he teaches me is VERY USEFUL, I apply everything we learn to my music and it has made a huge difference. I've come to learn that the tiniest things count! I highly recommend him and you'll have the best time!"

Lots of singers, even professionals, take singing lessons because they experience pitch problems.  They are easy fixed with this vocal approach.   If your musical ear is fine, the issue is with one or more of the following:  1.  Lack of correct breath support.  2. Presence of moving vowels or lack of gradations.  3. Singing of improper or heavy consonants.
My experience in singing begins in 2005 in a youth chorus of my city in Mérida Venezuela. I started singing and vocal technique studies in that group, I sang some choral symphonies and I won prizes in my country of origin. Then in 2008 it became part of the Cantoria de Mérida group that allows me to deepen my knowledge in the area of academic singing. I received singing lessons with teachers who in turn received their training in Europe specifically in Catalonia Spain. There I made a number of symphonic choral productions and toured certain countries in Latin America and Europe represented Venezuela and in 2013 it won prizes a ... View Profile

There is not a more powerful tool in building confidence than overcoming the fear of public performance and public speaking. Vocal lessons teach students to control and train their body to relax while performing. Anxiety and performance-induced stress often translates into bad vocal performances. Many singers find themselves great singers in smaller, informal settings - in the recording studio or even the shower - and often find it challenging or impossible to reproduce the same quality performance in front of a larger audience.  Our teachers will teach you how to overcome this fear and to release your inner confidence and full musical potential.
I love teaching Salsa because I certainly know it would bring happiness to my students. I always teach to my students to understand the rhythm and the music of what they are dancing, I teach them to listen, so they can afterwards without any doubt fall in to the rhythm without any problem.  In my experience Salsa saved me a couple of times from quiting school, it took me to Europe and was the reason of meeting friends for life, family.  I studied 2 years Jazz and Tap in Mexico. Later I taught as a instructor for the company Rumba Azteca in Guanajuato, Mexico and became a member of the staff of dancers for SalsaSi Dance Company in Kr ... View Profile

Students don’t have to wait until showcases or recitals for playing experience. They can attend one of the many open mics and jams that Freeway Music hosts throughout the city. We host open mics at places like Drip, Beef O’ Brady’s, and Social Grill. Freeway Music even has an open jazz jam every other Tuesday at Delaney’s in Five Points. We keep our events posted on the website to make it easy for students to keep up with what is going on.
I take a physiological approach to singing... after all it is a physical endeavor.  The voice or larynx, despite all its complexities, is just another set of muscles that can be trained to reach its fullest potential.  The method that I teach, “The Franco/Italian Bel Canto Method” has been taught in Europe for more than 200 years and has produced the world’s greatest classical singers.  Now having said that let me assure you studying this method doesn’t mean that you have to become a classical singer.  The techniques used are designed to strengthen and improve the quality of the human voice and can be applied to any genre ... We offer professional training in many different genres. We have helped many students prepare for their auditions for performances, bands, and shows. We also have many working professionals who seek out our vocal instruction for help with working on projecting their speaking voice when being used in a public speaking forum. Have you heard about football players taking ballet lessons? It is kind of like that but not as far removed. We also offer professional vocal workshops throughout the year, providing more opportunities to sing and speak in larger groups.

Have you ever wondered how singers such as Whitney Houston, Freddy Mercury, Maria Carey, Elvis Presley and Ariana Grande produce that beautiful sound? The answer is "Bel Canto." It's not just a vocal technique, it's a science. Some great singers intuitively apply the concepts of "Bel Canto" to reach vocal greatness while others were taught. At "Beautiful Voice NJ" students learn everything from how to produce a gorgeous tone to how to gain ultimate pitch control. Modern day Bel Canto, which means "Beautiful Singing," is applied to all styles of music: Rock, Pop, Alternative, Jazz, R&B, Funk, Blues, Soul, Broadway, Country, Hip Hop, Classical and more.
Voice lessons are currently being offered through the WIU Community Music School for singers of all ages, levels, and styles. Students study in a one-on-one weekly private lesson. Over the course of regular weekly study, students have the opportunity to hone their skills and realize their potential in a non-competitive environment, while receiving guidance in achieving their personal goals. In a space of self-exploration and discovery, learning skills and self-teaching techniques are instilled in order to foster life-long inquiry and passion for singing.
We also offer the option for students to take piano lessons in addition to their voice lessons. Adults will find this useful because basic piano skills will enable them to accompany themselves while playing as well as with music theory and songwriting. Younger students will also find the piano lesson addition to be very valuable.  Advanced vocal technique can't fully be addressed and taught unless the voice has matured so the technical portion of the lesson in younger children is limited. By learning to play an instrument simultaneously students get the opportunity to development musicianship and musical understanding in tandem with their vocal training.  Besides, all of the modern observations about the benefits of learning music have been observed on those who were playing an instrument and reading notes....and who wouldn't want that for their child?

Please do not pass over this course when you see that it covers the ANATOMY of singing. Roma starts at the beginning because that is how we learn, at the beginning. I am not new to singing but was feeling rusty on my skills/knowledge. She includes so much information that you get to print and keep forever, including a vocal warm-up cd that you may download. Sometimes she is on video for warm-ups and talks to you like you are in the room with her. I recommend this course to anyone and everyone.
